Charcoal Seaweed Mask Review

Lately my skin had been feeling rough. No matter how often I washed, it just didn’t have that smoothness. I decided it was time to mask my skin.

I found this charcoal and seaweed mask at Walmart for $2.50. I had never used it before, so that solidified my decision to try it.

I had never used a mask like this, I generally use ones that you have to apply and spread on your face as opposed to a sheet.

Anyhow, I opened the masks d unfolded it. I peeled the first layer off and arranged the mask on my face. Once I had it settled, I peeled the other side off. This one was harder to remove, as I did not want to disrupt the mask placement on my face,

After I had it on, I felt as if I looked led like Hannibal taunting Clarice.

I left it on for 30 minutes. After I removed it, I rubbed the rest of the serum into my skin as instructed.

The next morning, I washed my face as usual. Before I was to moisturize, I noticed how soft and smooth my skin felt. I didn’t put moisturizer in, and jumped straight into my makeup routine, applying primer first.

My skin has been rather smooth these past couple of days.

I give this mask two thumbs up 👍🏾 👍🏾, and for $2.50, you can’t beat that.

I may buy a bunch and gift them to my friends.

Cheers 🥂 to healthy skin!

Live Life

¡Hola!

If you follow my blog, you know that I created a list of 30 things to do by the time I made 30. You can read about here, 30 by 30, or see it below 👇🏾, with the things I’ve completed crossed off.

  1. Spend 30 Minutes talking to a stranger.
  2. Get a bikini wax. I know, I know! The thought just makes me cringe though.
  3. Visit a new city in Texas
  4. Experience a sensory deprivation chamber.
  5. Spend $30 on lunch for someone
  6. Do a Boudoir photo shoot. Gotta let this inner Goddess out!
  7. Spend an entire weekend alone. I have no idea how this one will happen.
  8. Go sky diving
  9. Get another tattoo/ piercing. I have one tattoo that I got when I was 18.
  10. Eat a meal I’ve never had before. Like that time I ate Guinea pig in Peru.
  11. Go on a hot air balloon ride
  12. Learn to gamble. I know absolutely nothing about gambling. I’d rather lose my money to buying shoes.
  13. Go camping. As a kid I always wanted to do this.
  14. Skinny dipping, YOLO!
  15. Learn to twerk. I’ve given it some half ass attempts, but I need to use my whole ass and commit
  16. Write and record a song. I can’t sing or rap, so this will be interesting.
  17. Start a garden. I’ll have to figure out how to do so on my apartment patio.
  18. Become a mentor. Everybody needs one or a few
  19. Write a letter to my 40- year old self. I’m sure 40 -year old Sarah will laugh and say “Girl you are crazy”.
  20. Go on a Baecation. That requires a bae, so I’ll work on that part.
  21. Purchase something expensive.
  22. Take more pictures. I am rarely in pictures, if you don’t count selfies, but I just don’t take pictures. I need to capture more moments in my life.
  23. Do something freaky. I’m not even sure what that means, and it’s up for interpretation. But when I do it, I’m sure I’ll say “that was some freaky sh*t”.
  24. Meditate 30 consecutive days. I can go about 10 days, then fall off the wagon.
  25. Write an E-Book. I have no idea what it will be about, but I’ll get it done.
  26. Read 5 new books. I read my fair share of children’s books, I need to enrich my own mind as well.
  27. Visit each one of my friends. We all live in different cities, and I think it would be nice to visit them in their element.
  28. Start my 40 things to do before 40 list. That list will be much more intricate, as I’ll have more time to compose it.
  29. Learn other languages. I won’t just pick one, as I am heavily into linguistics.
  30. Go to a hoedown.

Now some items were partially completed, like item 26. I read two books, and purchased more.

Some items where replaced by similar experiences. For example, I didn’t do item 4, but I did cryotherapy.

A few items were scheduled, but the weather simply did not permit.

Nonetheless, having made this list somehow made me more conscious of wanting to experience new things.

I was listening to an old speech by Jim Rohn, and he stated that one of the best things about having a list is checking things off, and being able to say ” I did that”. He was absolutely correct!

Having a written list of goals and desires helps propel you into completing and accomplishing them, which to me, goes back to the Law of Attraction. I’ve found that you shouldn’t worry too much about how the things will happen.

Never shy away from living life. I’m still working on honing in on my manifestation skills, but things always work out as they should.

Live life on purpose, don’t settle for the should’ve, could’ve, would’ve. Unapologetically live your life, after all it is YOURS.

Creating that list sparked something within me. I began deliberately going after the things I wanted to experience as opposed to wishing I’d experience them. We were designed to live life abundantly, and we should conduct ourselves accordingly.

What are some things you desire to experience? What’s keeping you from experiencing them?

Hello March

It’s my birthday month!

I’ll be 30 on the 5th, and I decided to simply go with the flow as far as celebrating.

Since I was 21, I’ve always made plans for my birthday, and things never go accordingly. Nothing bad ever happened, it’s just that things never go as planned. That’s made some hella great memories though.

There are no definitive plans this year, as spontaneity is what I’m seeking.

YOLO!

I have a few more items to knock off my 30 by 30 list. My goal is to knock them off by June 1st, so that I can start on my 40 by 40 list.

A few years back, I read a post, Treat Yo’Self To Birthday Month , by Alex Temblador , in which she discusses celebrating your damn self! 👋🏾 Hey Alex! I share it every year it comes up in my Facebook memories as a reminder; do what you want to do in celebration of yourself.

Now I do realize many people don’t celebrate their birthdays, I’m not one of those people! Partaaaaaay!

You celebrate your birthday the entire month, if that’s what you choose to do. We tend to be so consumed with all the other things life throws at us, and truly never celebrate ourselves.

It’s okay to celebrate you, don’t ever let anyone make you feel guilty for doing so.

Go on those trips, buy that expensive item, TREAT YO’SELF GUH!

Not only is my birthday in March, Spring begins this month, and it’s the start of Festival Season (I’ve been planning outfits all winter).

Even if my birthday wasn’t in March, it’d still probably be my favorite month.

Let’s go on a living spree!

Happy March y’all!!

Treat Yo’self

Yesterday was Galentine’s Day, and all my gal pals live in other states. Today is Valentine’s Day, and I’m single. No biggie! I still treated myself.

I can’t stress enough to people how being single should not be something that worries you. Your singleness should empower you.

In your singleness. You should learn who you, what you like, what you don’t like, so on and so forth.

I never really understood why people let one day get them all bent out of shape. Something like Valentine’s Day shouldn’t define your entire existence. This post isn’t about bashing or complaining, it’s about appreciating self.

I know I love white chocolate strawberries, so I treated myself to some. No one should know you better than you know yourself.

img_3076
This red velvet white chocolate strawberry was EVERYTHING

Coconut white chocolate

My babies got me some bath bombs, and I treated myself to a nice bath. Lemongrass bath bomb with pink rose petals. It was hella relaxing.

I’m a firm believer in the Law of Attraction. If I do for myself the things I want a prospective mate to do, he will.

Anything you want, go get it, do it. You are the author of your story.

img_3064
Lemongrass Poppyseed soap was sensational

You should always treat yourself to new things and experiences as well as all the things you love. Show yourself appreciation. Love the hell out of yourself. If you don’t, then who will?

Don’t you ever wait to do what you enjoy. Do it now!

💋

I Love Your Style

Hey there!

I recently went out in Beaumont for the first time ever, and it was fun! I flew solo as I don’t have any friends here.

The occasion was a 90s party, so I jumped at the opportunity. Ya know, because I love the 90s!

What I had originally envisioned to wear didn’t work out 😩 #bummer

I wasn’t too distraught, as I have countless outfit ideas in mind.

I miraculously found my hoodie at Forever 21. They have great 90s styles! Everything else I already owned. See outfit below 👇🏾

When I walked in the bar, lots of people immediately commented how they liked my ensemble. It was kind of weird at first, but hey 🤷🏾‍♀️.

When I was at the bar this guy commented on how my Nintendo hoodie was awesome 🤙🏾.

Once I had made my final round to the bar, a random drunk lady walked up to me and asked was I from Beaumont. My reply was no of course. She went on to say that she could tell from the way I was dressed, and thanked me for bringing my style to Beaumont. It was weird as hell, but I’m finding the most random moments in my life confirm a lot of things I put out into the universe.

We went on to slap slap bracelets on each other’s wrists. I mean what’s a 90s party without them?

The few photos I have from that night were taken by other drunk women. There’s an unspoken allegiance is women have when drunk.

Overall the night was great, and I’ll definitely be going out more. Going out alone isn’t all that weird, it’s all in your mind. How else will one make friends if they are always in the house.

Also to be noted, my blog post have slowed down due to my kids breaking both my laptop and desktop 😩. Actually my desktop won’t power on, so I won’t blame that on the boys, but they are certainly the cause of the broken laptop. My screen is cracked, badly.

Anywho, I’m being diligent in my next laptop purchase, and will be back to weekly posts once I do.

Thanks for stopping by! 💋

Take Off 🚀

I attended my first Houston Rockets game yesterday, and it was pretty cool.

I can say New Orleans Pelicans fans are completely different than Rockets fans.

As I was getting dressed to leave, my youngest son said ” Mama I wanna go with you”, and to my surprise my oldest replied ” Can mama get a break from us”. In that moment I realized how much my son does care about my well being.

Once I was dressed, in rolled the boys and their commentary. “Ooooo mama, you look cute”. “Mama you look bourgeois (boujee)”.

My babies tickle me, I don’t know where I’d be without these characters.

As a mom, we tend to buy for our children, even when they don’t need it, before we buy for ourselves.

With the exception of my boots, everything I had on was purchased on sale/clearance.

Looking great doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. I’m not saying don’t pay full price for items, but if you don’t have to, why should you?

This blog post actually went into a different direction as originally planned. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I had fun at the Rockets game. I’ll definitely be attending more. I have to learn about the players on the team, so I can fully be into the games.

I’m going to put together a list of my sale shopping tips, so be on the look out for that.

Pastels in Winter, whaaaat?

It’s 2018, and people are still holding onto those traditional rules of fashion. “Don’t wear white after Labor Day, no bright colors in winter”.

Where is it written that we HAVE to wear dark colors in winter?

Wherever it is, throw the whole book away 🚮

Just last week my mom was freaking out about a wearing a dress because it was too bright.

I personally feel as if bright colors should purposely be worn in winter. I think the colors will liven your spirits as most of us are already salty about the cold.

With anything, it’s not what you wear but how you wear it.

Make your winter wardrobe pop with some pastels. Wear that pastel peacoat over your favorite turtle neck, dark wash denim, and a fly bootie.

With your personal style, your winter pastel possibilities are endless.

The dress featured in this post, I’ve owned since November 2016. It was originally purchased to wear to the Formation World Tour. ( Check out that experience here ) Thanks to a mix up, it was delivered the day of, and I had to scramble for an alternate, as the dress would be delivered while I was en route to the show.

As a person who would wait for a special occasion to wear items in my wardrobe, I’m telling you to WEAR YOUR PIECES. The occasion may never come, so wear them.

Bottom line, wear what you want, when you want, how you want.

** I wrote this post before shooting photos of me in the dress. Well the photos didn’t make it 😩😩. I’ll do the shoot over then, post the pics. **

Sarah Stylin’

For as long as I can remember, I have loved to play dress up. There’s something about putting outfits together and prancing around in them that makes me happy. It’s kind of weird because I’m not a girly woman or a tomboyish woman, I’m somewhere in the middle.

Nonetheless, I love styling myself and other people. I know there are certain fashion trends everyone follows, but being able to style in-spite of trends is not something everyone can do.

Little known fact, I’ve always wanted to be a stylist. I’m not really sure why I’ve never told anyone that, but strangely enough people are always asking me to help them create a look or find pieces for them.

As a believer in the law of attraction, I’ve decided to run with this. There’s a reason why I love to create various looks, and others have asked on several occasions to style them.

I’ve created a section on my blog called “Stylin“, and here I will post different style photos I take. So don’t be a stranger to that section.

Here in this post, I’ve included photos from a session I like to call In living color. The look was inspired by the kick off of Mardi Gras 💜💚💛 season and of course the 90s. The jacket pictured, is one my mom has had for as long as I can remember. It’s an ode to New Orleans, one of my favorite cities.

90s fashion is my passion, I love everything about it! Majority of my looks will have 90’s incorporated somehow.

So stay tuned! I’m low key excited about this new venture, who knows where it’ll lead. For now, I’ll just have fun with it. 😎

Going Green!

This past June, I made the decision to give up meat for good. It was fairly simple, as meat really wasn’t a big part of my diet. My oldest son has made a fuss here and there because he loves meat, but he has yet to dislike a meatless dish made.

A few Night ago a made vegetarian chili and he absolutely LOVED it.

IMG_3837

I found this recipe from Damn Delicious via Pinterest.  It requires you to use quinoa instead of meat.

I’ll be honest, I miss hot wings. Today I’m going to try a buffalo cauliflower recipe and determine if I’ll be adding it to our menu regularly.

*UPDATE*

The cauliflower buffalo bites were a hit! They were better than I expected. We now have a new snack to add to the menu.

I’ll make a post about this whole process in the next couple days.

IMG_3890

In addition to axing meat, I have vowed to juice more.  I have no hard set plan for juicing outside of juicing 3 consecutive days every month. All these changes are conducive with me deciding to live better and be healthier is all aspects. Your health is wealth. I cannot say that enough.  Without your health, you have nothing.

I’ll continue to share our journey to living better; The good, bad, and ugly.

As the wise Jerry Springer says “Take care of yourselves, and each other”.

30 By 30

On March 5th, 2018,  I’ll be 30. YIKES!!!

There are lots of stigmas associated with turning 30. According to society, by 30 you should have acquired a spouse and children, a career, a house, among other things. I can admit that I may have fallen into the trap of what this is how my life should be by 30, but I had to check myself. No ones life path is the same, and you should trust the timing of your life.

This post was inspired by Ro’Shunda over at Travel With The Russells.  Hey Girl!

Her post, 30’s The New 20: I’m On Fire Still is a summation of 30 things she wants to do before her 30th birthday.  Some of her items were really awesome, and got my wheels turning,  so I created a list of my own.

So let’s hop right to it. Here are the 30 things I would like to have completed before my 30th. They are listed in no particular order.

  1. Spend 30 Minutes talking to a stranger.
  2. Get a bikini wax. I know, I know! The thought just makes me cringe though.
  3. Visit a new city in Texas
  4. Experience a sensory deprivation chamber.

  29. Learn other languages. I won’t just pick one, as I am heavily into linguistics.
  30. Go to a hoedown.

It’s December 5th, and I’ve given myself 3 months to complete this list. I’m gonna try my best to document me checking things off my list. (See item 22).

What are some things you’d like to do before your next milestone birthday?
